KTC Junior Membership
All children taking part in the No Limits Coaching Programme at Knaresborough Tennis Club MUST be a junior member!The good news is that membership fees are extremely cheap in comparison to other Clubs, and there are several benefits, such as FREE junior club night, free practice at the Club Courts (King James School) outside of school hours.
Get priority in box leagues, team matches, and tournaments at the Club etc. If you do not have coaching at Knaresborough, why not still join so you have a place to practice and get involved in the club nights and all the other activities!
Adults…….. the membership fee is incredibly low, so why not join so you can play with your kids, or so you can come along free to Adult Club Night (Weds 6pm onwards) or Sats 2pm onwards, starting Saturday 10th April.
We really need more adults who play at a reasonable standard to represent our Adult mens, ladies and mixed teams……….could this be you???? Why not come along to the above sessions and give it a shot!!! PLEASE SUPPORT THE CLUB HERE…..and TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!!

Junior Club Night: Monday nights
This is a great opportunity for kids to come and play supervised “friendly” matches against other children of a similar age and ability in a relaxed environment at the Club. Matchplay is a fantastic way to put all your coaching into practice, and those that take part will certainly improve their tennis considerably, so PLEASE COME DOWN!
It’s absolutely FREE for KTC members, but if you are not, (or you want to bring a friend who is not a member), then the non-members fee for each session is just £2. Watch this space for 2010 dates and times.

Competent Over 14s and adults needed to play for KTC's adult doubles teams
Many of our older juniors receiving coaching in both Harrogate and Knaresborough are now reaching the standard required to play for Knaresborough Tennis Club’s Mens, Ladies and Mixed Doubles Teams. The existing KTC team captains are keen to see “fresh blood” coming into their teams, and would like to look for potential players at the Adult Club nights, and team practices in April (dates tba).
If there are any adults out there who feel they are good enough to play competitively, (even if you are a bit rusty), please do come along and give it a whirl………you might just enjoy it!!!!!
Get competitive! – Get an LTA Rating free by joining BRITISH TENNIS
I’d like to encourage all children aged 8+ to get an LTA rating, so that every time you play a match your score can go towards improving that rating. A rating is like a golf handicap, the better you get, and the more matches you win (and the less you lose) the more your rating goes up.
Most importantly, having a rating allows you to enter local and regional LTA ratings tournaments, to play against other similarly rated players. All box leagues and tournaments will involve ratings now, so there are loads of opportunities to get your matches played.
To get a rating, go on the LTA website, www.lta.org.uk and look up BRITISH TENNIS MEMBERSHIP.
You can join online, and it’s a new LTA initiative that’s FREE for all KTC members! Even under 8’s can join, but without a rating! There are lots of perks to joining, such as coaching advice, discounts, newsletters……so check it out!!
Absolutely everyone should be getting the free British Tennis Membership, even if you don’t want a rating!!
KTC Junior Box Leagues (Singles & Doubles)
Calling all juniors……….get involved in this organised way of playing matches against others of a similar ability! It is a fantastic way of putting new skills into practice, and for improving your game play! Matches can be arranged against other players in your box at times/venues to suit….as long as you complete all the matches by the end of the summer term!
Costs only £5 per box, and all team squad players should be taking part!! Match results will be recorded, and will count towards ratings points……there is a trophy for each box winner too! Application forms will be coming out soon!
Regular Tournaments at KTC for mini tennis Red, Orange, Green, U12s, U14s &18s
There will again be monthly singles tournaments held at KTC and other local Clubs for children of all ages to enter at their own particular level. Most tournaments will take place Sat & Sun afternoons, and they are great opportunities for players to gain more experience of competitive tennis locally, plus it’s a sure way to improve, and to get more ratings points!
Details are being finalised with the LTA and other clubs who want to take part in the next few weeks, so watch out for the flyers after Easter with all the dates/times for your level. You will need an LTA rating for the U12’s – U18’s!
